Nidhi grew up in Delhi, India experiencing firsthand, the detrimental changes environment in the developing world. Her passion is to help solve the energy and climate change challenge, especially for the communities that have suffered the most while contributing the least because of climate change. This belief attracted her to focus on climate justice and natural resource management issues.
In 2021, she graduated from the School of Public Policy and Global Affairs at UBC with five years of professional experience in climate change research and policy. During her Masters, she worked as a Graduate Research Assistant on nuclear energy and the transition to decarbonization.
In her graduate project, Nidhi worked as a Policy Consultant for Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw. With her team, she worked on the information gathering stage of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw Climate Action Strategy and provided implementable climate policies to the Nation. Through continued engagement with Indigenous Nation, she gained a unique perspective in building relationships while managing a project. Nidhi is excited to bring this experience to the Climate Hub.
As the incoming project administrator of Climate Hub, I look forward to working alongside students who inspire to take action on the climate crisis and understand that Climate justice matters. I hope to raise the consciousness of decision-makers through Climate Hub initiatives like CJRC and Showcase that would move us closer to the policy that begins to address the climate crisis. I aspire to ensure that justice, equity, and inclusiveness are pillars of all the efforts.
